Reed Family Linen have been weaving and stitching luxury bed linens for both domestic and hotel use for over one hundred years. During this time we have designed and developed fabrics which deliver long durability in laundering without compromising the soft handle and feel which our products are renown for worldwide. This process of constant research and refining of our hotel linens continues today with the help and experiences of many of our hospitality clients from St James in London to remote properties in the bush of Africa or on isolated resort islands in the Caribbean and Indian Oceans.
Following the second World War our company pioneered the UK Government’s T665 “Hotel Quality” sheeting fabric as part of the rebuilding process for the country, and Clifford Reed patented the “graduated loom reed” as an innovative way of weaving sheets with a higher thread count in the centre of the cloth where bed sheets receive most abrasion.
Years of use and handling of our linens by housekeepers and laundries have given us data which indicates that our linens endure up to eight hundred boil washes in standard commercial laundry environments which translates into a “Cost per Night” value of around 12 US cents per night for a king size bed – a relatively modest cost when viewed as a component of a luxury room’s daily tariff.
