Bedroom Trends

At Reed we know that a bedroom is a more than just somewhere you clock in eight precious hours of sleep a night.

Unlike the rest of your home, which is designed with guests, connection and recreation in mind, your bedroom gives you permission to unleash your most private self and create a sanctuary that reflects what relaxation means to you. One’s bedroom should be a place to retreat too.

Are you looking to breathe new life into your bedroom? We have gathered our favourite interior design trends that are set to make waves for the next few years. From crisp, white bedding to home office nooks in master bedrooms, beauty sleep has never looked so good.

Textural Retreat

With COVID and ensuing restrictions not set to go anywhere in the near future, people are craving cosy home comforts ahead of Winter, in the form of texture, texture, texture. Whether through your choice of bed linens, wallpaper or rich textiles inviting you to curl up in a window seat or favourite chair.

Layer soft luxurious Reed blankets and quilts to create layered, cosy comfort.

Minimal Mode

Amidst the chaos of the world and in leu of travel many of us want our bedrooms to be meditative spaces. Especially if we don’t have a designated meditation space, we need our master bedroom to be dual purpose. There is a big move towards removing all clutter and paring down to a few quality pieces, the best mattress you can afford, soft window treatments, and luxurious bedding.

We want to feel our bedroom can transport us to our dream vacation.

Whispers Of White

A trend that never goes out of style is all-white bedding. Many of the Reed designs feature beautiful stitching, embroidery or damask detailing which elevates a white-on-white look with texture and interest.

The Great Indoors

Interior trends are seeing a great focus on nature, with soft paint finishes, botanical wallpapers and subtle woven linens bringing the outdoors in. Shades of green are soothing and fresh, opt for painted feature walls and scatter cushions as an easy way to incorporate this trend.

Stylish Purposes

One of the biggest trends for 2022 is creating spaces are multi-functional whilst still being stylish. Your bedroom may need to also serve as a gym or a home office and optimised storage, beautiful room dividers and smart design can help you achieve this. We love oversized baskets to hide yoga matts and weights and we have turned built in wardrobes into stylish work nooks in previous apartments in NYC.

Sweet Dreams

Awareness and understanding of the natural rhythms of light and the effect on our health and sleep have changed the way we think about window treatments. Heavy ornate draperies and black outs are giving way to breezy and more sheer window treatments which provide privacy but still allow light to fill our rooms.

All Smiles

For the upcoming season, there is a move away from heavy dark colours in favour of earthy tones and boldly colourful palettes, as people crave cheer in their homes and bedrooms.

Indulge in our beautiful range of colours from uplifting to classically beautiful and boldly modern.

A Few More Trends That We Have Noticed

  • STRIPES ON STRIPES ON STRIPES – This classic reminds us of seaside walks, summertime and trips to the South of France. Our Reed Damask stripe bedsheets are the perfect base for this timeless trend.
  • POPS OF GLOSS – Glossy paints usually reserved for trim are making their debut on feature walls alongside satin sheets and bright art, our Sateen sheeting is cool, silken to the touch and beautifully lustrous.
  • NEW PROVENCAL – Red, White & Blue is having a Vogue moment, this Provencal trio is beautiful when subtly woven into your bedroom, we love pairing our Hurlingham design in white and cobalt blue with pops of red. Our Suez design in white and orange also works beautifully with blue quilted pillows and red accents or a red throw for that coastal chic look.
  • JAPANDI – Japandi style blurs Japanese minimalism with paired back Scandinavian cool. The Japandi trend, has been adopted by design lovers for it’s minimalism and harmony. Our Linen Union Hemstitch in taupe is the perfect set to complete this look.
  • COTTAGECORE – Cottage-core draws inspiration from the countryside—think lush botanical motifs, flouncy florals, and natural materials such as wool and linen. Our Scalloped bed linen in pretty pastels or delicately embroidered Rosacea design compliment this country chic look.

And of course the biggest trend, which we don’t see going anywhere in the future is sustainability, conscious buying, supporting ethical brands, a focus on more natural materials and quality over quantity.

Reed products are designed for ultimate comfort and to launder well over many years.

Happy designing,

Karen Reed
