Bed linen is silky Ivory sateen instantly gives the bedroom a touch of classic glamour, as well as feeling warm and cosseting on the skin.
Our Ivory sateen bed linen has a soft sheen and exquisite drape for a polished look and luxurious feel. Ivory bed linen is a perfect alternative in bedrooms where pure white bed linen can appear a little too ‘cool’, yet the way the light bounces off this high thread count sateen bed linen gives it a luminous, light quality that really lifts a space. The shade’s subtle yellow undertones impart darker or north-facing bedrooms – where natural light inevitably reads cooler – with a soothing sense of warmth. Ivory sateen bed linen is also an extremely versatile shade, working well alongside light and dark timber finishes, and as effortless layered with rich, deep tones as soft and pretty pastel hues.
Colour Schemes
For subtle texture and dimension, why not pair Ivory sateen bed linen with the same colour in another cloth type? Layer Ivory sateen with our crisp cotton percale or beautiful Linen Union cloths – available in matching Ivory – for a classic look that also allows you to tailor different elements of the bed to your liking. For example, if you prefer the silky look and warm feel of sateen on your skin, you might like to mix a sateen duvet cover and pillowcases with a crisp cotton percale bottom sheet. Ivory sateen bed linen also looks fantastic contrasted with our lustrous, Ebony black sateen bed linen for a bold and contemporary bed linen look.
Why choose cotton sateen bed linen?
In 1998, Mark Reed created this beautiful quality sateen bed linen for the North American market, using our original 400 thread count cotton percale sheeting as inspiration. The silky-smooth feel of sateen bed linen, and the way its weave responds to the light to create a lustrous appearance, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Sateen bed linen is more flexible than percale bed linen and can therefore feel warmer – sateen is ideal winter bed linen – and even look less creased, after a night’s use. However, its looser weave and softness also means that it is less durable than crisp cotton percale bed linen, which is worth considering when looking for the most long-lasting bed linen. The weight of this cloth is 125gsm with a ‘Cover Factor’ of 18.8 out of a maximum 28. Cover Factor is a more reliable and transparent measure of quality than ‘thread count’, since it relates to the tightness of the weave.
