Joyful and uplifting, Majorelle Blue sateen bed linen is an intense and vibrant hue that evokes the sun-drenched gardens in Marrakech from which it takes its name.
This striking blue bed linen was launched in 2020 to coincide with the emerging trend for colourful, characterful interiors, and has become a firm favourite with our clients, and is particularly chosen for beach houses, homes in sun-drenched locations and on yachts. However, we’ve found that it works just as well in a chic city apartment, where its bright and lively hue can instantly elevate an otherwise pared-back interior and inject any space with a little Moroccan sunshine and exoticism. The lustrous, silky sheen of our high thread count cotton sateen cloth only adds to its appeal.
Colour Schemes
Majorelle Blue bed linen finds the perfect partner in fresh White bed linen and is also beautiful paired with the warmth of our Tan bed linen, available in crisp and cool cotton percale. Though undoubtedly on the braver side, go bold and drench a bedroom in this uplifting blue hue, and accessorise with complementary brights, such as pink and yellow – as seen in Jardin Majorelle – and with rustic and natural materials for a relaxed coastal look.
Why choose cotton sateen bed linen?
In 1998, Mark Reed created this beautiful quality sateen bed linen for the North American market, using our original 400 thread count cotton percale sheeting as inspiration. The silky-smooth feel of sateen bed linen, and the way its weave responds to the light to create a lustrous appearance, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Sateen bed linen is more flexible than percale bed linen and can therefore feel warmer – sateen is ideal winter bed linen – and even look less creased, after a night’s use. However, its looser weave and softness also means that it is less durable than crisp cotton percale bed linen, which is worth considering when looking for the most long-lasting bed linen. The weight of this cloth is 125gsm with a ‘Cover Factor’ of 18.8 out of a maximum 28. Cover Factor is a more reliable and transparent measure of quality than ‘thread count’, since it relates to the tightness of the weave.
