Our Linen Union bed linen in soft and subtle Blush Pink combines the textured look and feel of pure linen with the easy-care characteristics of cotton, creating bed linen that really does offer the best of both worlds.
Linen bed linen has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years, but it can be trickier to wash and iron, and look crumpled very quickly, which is why Reed’s Linen Union sheeting – a clever mix of linen and cotton – is the perfect alternative to pure linen sheets. Linen Union has the beautiful texture of linen, yet is much easier to care for, launder and iron than pure linen bed linen. We were first commissioned to create this bed linen by The Savoy Hotel in London, during a flax shortage that made their usual, pure linen bed linen impractical. The resulting sheeting, named Linen Union in a nod to its fusion of flax and cotton, has gone on to become one of our best-selling, signature fabrics. Today, as well as the original, classic white bed linen ordered by The Savoy, it is available in a range of pretty pastel shades, timeless neutrals and contemporary colours to suit every bedroom.
Colour Schemes
This pretty, light pink hue accentuates the beautiful texture of the Linen Union cloth, and we think that it makes an on-trend, feminine alternative to pure white bed linen. We recommend layering pieces of our Linen Union bed linen collection with plain hemmed sateen bed linen in Blush Pink. For example, you might prefer the textured look and feel of Linen Union for a duvet cover but prefer the crisp feel of percale or sateen as a bottom sheet. We also suggest mixing and matching pillowcases in different weaves across the same colour.
Why choose Linen Union?
This wonderful cloth was designed by Peter Reed in 1983 as an alternative to pure linen sheets for The Savoy Hotel in London. It’s made using a combination of cotton warp yarns and 100% linen weft threads that gives the feel of pure linen, yet it is much easier to iron and more crease resistant. Our Linen Union fabric is a mix of 60% linen sustainably sourced from Belgium and 40% long staple cotton, which offers the luxurious feel of pure linen and the launderability of cotton, as well as plenty of other benefits for your sleep. Linen’s long fibres allow air to circulate through the sheeting, making it exceptionally breathable and ideal if you’re a hot sleeper, or your home is in a warm climate. What’s more, the heat-regulating properties of linen helps keep you cooler during hot weather and warmer on cooler nights. So, sheets containing linen are a fantastic choice for every season.
